Code 20 - Domaine St Georges d’lbry - Chardonnay with oak 2002 - white

With this wine fermentation was carried out in new oak barrels, then aged on it’s lees for 12 months.

Bright yellow in colour, offering a rich and complex nose of exotic fruits, supported by flavours of almond, honey and marzipan which follows through on the palate. Very full in the mouth, generous and beautifully balanced.

Serve with white meats, foie gras, smoked fish, goat’s milk cheeses. Decanting recommended.

Don’t over chill, serve at 12 degrees.

Wine critc Chris Kissack said ’Oak fermented, and then aged on the lees for one year. A pale golden hue. That oak fermentation is certainly apparent on the nose, which has a pile of butterscotch, toffee and vanilla character, alongside exotic notes such as honeydew melon. The palate follows on with a smoky barrel character and a grippy oak-derived tannic backbone behind the full, opulent, mouthfeel.’
